NC State's Terrell Manning Begins Our Coundown of the ACC's Top 25 Players

To recap the 2011 season of ACC football, we’ll be ranking the top 25 players in the conference this year, starting at 25, and heading all the way to the number-one slot. While these rankings can surely be debated, it’s still entertaining to assemble them. And on we go…

No. 25: Terrell Manning, LB/NC State Wolfpack

Manning came on strong as an all-around defender for the Wolfpack in 2011, showing prowess in running- and passing-schemes. In just 10 games of action, the junior linebacker recorded 70 tackles, along with 5.5 sacks and four forced fumbles. You also regularly saw Terrell out in coverage too, as he was credited with five pass deflections and two interceptions on the year. Not coincidentally, his most impressive single-game effort was State’s surprising shutout against rival North Carolina. With 11 tackles, a sack and three pass deflections, Manning led a forceful and stifling defensive attack that registered the ‘Pack’s first shutout of the ‘Heels since 1960. if NC State hopes to grow on their encouraging 2011 campaign, they’ll need Manning back. Lucky for them, it would appear he intends to return for his senior season.
