To recap the 2011 season of ACC football, we’ll be ranking the top 25 players in the conference this year, starting at 25, and heading all the way to the number-one slot. While these rankings can surely be debated, it’s still entertaining to assemble them. And on we go…
No. 21: Josh Bush, FS/Wake Forest
The senior safety was one of the few bright spots on a Demon Deacons defense that gave up over 27 points per game. In 2011, Bush set career highs for tackles (56) and interceptions (six). Coming into the season, Bush only had one pick in his entire career, and his 56 tackles this season obliterate last year’s total of 33 (his previous career-high in a season). And even as Wake was in the midst of a freefall come the the end of the year, Bush’s play actually improved — recording 27 tackles and three interceptions, along with three defended passes over the final four games. Though he’s not guaranteed to hear his name called in the draft come April, he stands a much better chance after being named first-team All-ACC.
