Florida State did not send a lot of talent to the NFL following the 2011 season, with only four Seminoles being drafted: RD4: Nigel Bradham, LB, Buffalo Bills; RD5: Zebrie Sanders, OT, Buffalo Bills; RD6: Mike Harris, CB, Jacksonville Jaguars; RD7: Andrew Datko, OT, Green Bay Packers. FSU Revives Cimarron Character to the Excitement of No One (FSUNews.com)
In a fantastical press release today, the FSU Athletics Promotion and Marketing Office unveiled the revival of the character “Cimarron.” Remember him? Neither did I. After intensive Googling and Wikipedia searches, I came up with this: Apparently, the Seminole name is a corrupted version of the cimarrón which is a Spanish term for “runaway” or “wild one.” It was a term generally used for certain Native groups in Florida…
