One Path That Could Take Florida State to the National Title Game (Orlando Sentinel)

OK, first of all, I have to say that I can’t believe I’m blogging this right now. (I can think of better ways to have spent part of my morning … and, mind you, this is not a prediction. Take that for what it’s worth. We’re only pointing some things out here on the blog about a potential FSU national title run since this has become a topic of conversation. Please don’t send your hatred toward the messenger)…

Virginia Will Pick Starting Quarterback After Weekend (SI.com)

The mystery of Virginia’s quarterback hierarchy will be settled Monday, coach Mike London said. Incumbent Michael Rocco started all 13 games and led the Cavaliers to an 8-5 record last year and their first bowl game since 2007. Rocco went into camp as the presumed starter and has been praised by London for his understanding of the offense…

How Will GDF’s Retirement Affect the Football Program (BC Interruption)

Part three of this week’s series, we are going to look at how Gene DeFilippo’s departure is going to affect the Boston College football program. Yesterday Grant looked at the hockey program and GDF’s laissez faire approach while Conrad advised the next AD to give Steve Donahue a little slack. Today we take a closer look at how DeFilippo’s retirement will affect the football program, the program arguably in the biggest need of a major facelift…

Andre Ellington Sure-Handed So Far, Knocking on Wood (Orange and White)

Andre Ellington is knocking on wood. “I actually haven’t dropped a ball yet during fall camp,” said the Tigers’ senior running back on Tuesday, after Clemson wrapped up the ‘camp’ portion of its preseason preparation. “Knock on wood,” he added. Ellington flirted with the NFL Draft last winter before deciding to return to Clemson for his final season…

Why Does ACC Officiating Hate Tech? (From the Rumble Seat)

Today I delve into a topic that, for some reason, doesn’t cause the uproar it deserves. When Georgia Tech lines up every week for ACC Conference play…we are in fact squaring off against two opponents. That second opponent, of course, is the ACC officiating crew. Now, as we all know, game officials are going to screw up every now and then…

2012 WRs: There’s So Much Talent Here (Streaking the Lawn)

Over the past 20 years or so, the Hoos have had a number of very talented WRs. From Herman Moore to Billy McMullen, from Germane Crowell to Kevin Ogletree. Most recently, Kris Burd was busy writing his name all over the career record book. Kris Burd is gone as is last year’s other starting WR, Matt Snyder…

Days to Play ‘Somewhere’ For Georgia Tech Against Hokies (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)

Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson wasn’t in much of a mood to share details, but allowed this about quarterback/A-back Synjyn Days. He’s in the plans for the opener against Virginia Tech. “We’ll see where he plays, but I’d be surprised if he didn’t play in the game somewhere,” Johnson said following Wednesday’s practice. Johnson said he didn’t know if Days, who has spent some of the preseason training at A-back, would play at that position…

  1. John,
Always good to read your posts and information provided. I have a somewhat jaudice view of what may be transpiring in college football expansion and the ACC-Orange Bowl and Notre Dame:
    1. Seems like all information/discussions except from Dude WVU and followers has gone underground
–they are playing up an ESPN conspiracy
    2. Interestingly, no one else has brought up ACC-OB-Notre Dame in any association
    3. In fact with the BE and Big 12 Media contracts out there hanging, seems as if there is a lot going on but no one is talking…..
What is your take….seems strange for such a quiet period…even ESPN chat and reporters are ducking questions concerning above?

    Thanks,

    Steven
