Florida State Maintains Its Position As the ACC’s Orange Bowl Representative in This Week’s Bowl Projections
Below is a list of bowl-eligible ACC teams, and which games they’d be headed to. Obviously no team has clinched making or missing the postseason just yet. But I see little reason why that would stop us from making these random predictions based on just a few games’ worth of action. Disagree with any of these? Share your own picks below.
ACC Bowl Projections 2012: Week Four
Discover Orange Bowl: Florida State Seminoles (3-0) vs. BCS at-large
Chick-fil-a Bowl: Clemson Tigers (3-0) vs. SEC
Russell Athletics Bowl: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (2-1) vs. Big East
Hyundai Sun Bowl: Virginia Tech Hokies (2-1) vs. Pac-12
Belk Bowl: NC State Wolfpack (2-1) vs. Big East
Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl: Virginia Cavaliers (2-1) vs. SEC
AdvoCare 100 Independence Bowl: Wake Forest Demon Deacons (2-1) vs. SEC
We also see both Pittsburgh and Syracuse heading to postseason games, going to the BBVA Compass Bowl and Pinstripe Bowl, respectively.
We’ll be updating these each week, so be sure to check back throughout the season.

Not another BBVA Bowl for Pitt. I swear we should just rename it the Sunseri Bowl at this point.
Please, please, please tell me the lower tier bowls get better for the ACC.
Right now, the lineup is:
1. BCS Orange Bowl in Miami
2. Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta
3. Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando
4. Hyundai Sun Bowl in El Paso
5. Belk Bowl in Charlotte
6. Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl in Nashville
7. AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl in Shreveport
8. Military Bowl in DC
9. Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl in San Francisco (conditional)
However … given that the ACC is effectively moving from 12 bowl teams to 15 (with Notre Dame), and given that Notre Dame is joining the group, it’s likely that some additional games will be added, and the lineup overall may be better in the future. There’s some talk about possibly getting the Gator Bowl back.
Would love the Gator Bowl to come back. I think you could slot that one in right under the Russell Athletic Bowl. Has the Big East extended its agreement with the Pinstripe Bowl? If not, that would be another natural fit.
Also of note, Mark put together a great analysis of how Notre Dame affects the ACC’s bowl affiliations in the future: http://accfootballrx.blogspot.com/2012/09/ndacc-part-3-bowls.html <– Well worth a read-through. Great stuff, Mark!
Okay, those aren’t that much better. heh
