Below is a bowl-eligible ACC teams (actual and projected), and which games they’d hypothetically be headed to. With just two games on the slate this weekend (title game and Pitt’s final game), there’s little left to the imagination, as the conference comes up well short on its overall allotment. ACC Bowl Projections 2012: Week 14
Discover Orange Bowl: Florida State Seminoles (10-2) vs. BCS at-large
Chick-fil-a Bowl: Clemson Tigers (10-2) vs. SEC
Russell Athletics Bowl: NC State Wolfpack (7-5) vs. Big East
Hyundai Sun Bowl: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (6-6) vs. Pac-12
Belk Bowl: Duke Blue Devils (6-6) vs. Big East
Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl: Virginia Tech Hokies (6-6) vs. SEC
We also see Syracuse (7-5) going to the Pinstripe Bowl as the Big East’s fourth-place representative, with Pittsburgh (5-6) potentially looking at their third straight trip to the BBVA Compass Bowl. The Pinstripe Bowl invite will be entirely contingent on whether or not West Virginia is invited as well. If the Mountaineers get a bid and Pitt is eligible, it’s almost a certainty they’ll be staging a Backyard Brawl redux. In that case, SU could possibly end up in the BBVA Compass Bowl instead.
Georgia Tech’s bowl status is also up in the air, since it’s unknown whether or not they’ll receive a postseason waiver should they go 6-7 (losing the ACC title game). If not, it’ll be another shot across the bow for the league, in a season full of them.
